Hello! I’m a college student living in Wisconsin currently who is doing his Senior Thesis on the works of Teilhard de Chardin. What sources can I refer to so as to find the actual reasons for the Monitum placed on him? The reasons in the Monitum are very vague and could be clarified. Also, what works of De Lubac present the Catholicity of Teilhard? Thanks! God bless!

Hi Joe. Great questions! I am not a scholar and I am not aware if there are any specific sources on the exact reasons that the Monitum was placed on Teilhard. I am aware that some prominent Vatican curia in the late 1950s and early 1960s were highly skeptical of Teilhard’s ideas. On your second question, I would recommend two books by Henri de Lubac: “The Religion of Teilhard de Chardin” and “Teilhard de Chardin: the man and his meaning”. Good luck on your thesis!
